Hey, I’m Avida

My Official name is Vedika Agarwal, Born on International Dance Day (29.04.96) and training as a dancer since the age of 3;
I was bound to end up as a professional in this field.
I started my dance journey with Ballet and Bharatnatyam and like every kid in Indian households, each gathering turned into a single participant talent show. I’ve always enjoyed performing but embracing myself onscreen took time. I was born with a cleft lip and I first spoke about it openly on a public platform in 2019 through a Bom Squad women’s day campaign and then on Humans of Bombay in 2021. I used to be wary of the way I looked & of facing the camera. But today, I’m a professional dancer & the heroine of my own film. My journey as an artist has contributed to my confidence, self-love and the person I am today, and so I never take doing what I love for granted.

I’ve had the privilege to live and absorb art and culture from different cities like - Guwahati, Singapore, Bangalore and now Bombay.
Every city has given me a different perspective of myself and experiences to draw inspiration.

I am now extending my way into the music industry as a Singer/Songwriter with a vision to bring music and movement together through stories and unite people through emotions. I have released 3 songs so far, each very different from the other. Just like how adjectives limit your belief of who you can be, I think restricting yourself to a genre can do the same.
My only goal is to make music that drives confidence and touches home.

Being an artist all my life, I know how tough the journey can be, and so I became a part of a company called Aurora Collective. As the creative operations lead and artist development head, I help independent artists with branding, consultation, social media and release strategy and 360 degree marketing. On the other hand I also work with brands and create campaigns where we integrate the music industry into our strategy and help bring more money and exposure to the musicians of today.

The object isn't to make art,

It's to be in that wonderful state

which makes art inevitable.
